Fresh off the press from ARVO 2025 (Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology ) annual meeting in Salt Lake City, and joined thousands of scientists in exploring the latest research in eye health and myopia.
This new study looked at the possible interaction of pcommon psychotropic drugs and the effect on atropine for myopia management. There is an increasing overlap of patients that have myopia as well as neurodivergent and mental health disorders that require treatment.
Conclusions
As previously shown, Ritalin was able to inhibit the development of experimental myopia. This study further reports that, at the dosages investigated, none of the other psychotropic agents administered modulated ocular growth. Importantly, all five agents did not counteract the anti-myopic effects of atropine.
